Your Actor Headshot Session
Your headshot is your first audition. Before a casting director reads your resume or watches your reel, they look at your face and decide whether you're worth a closer look. A generic, overlit photo won't get you there. You need an image that shows who you are — not who you think they want you to be.
At my Sherborn studio, every session starts with a conversation about what you're submitting for and what roles you're targeting. Then I coach you through expression, energy and micro-adjustments — not generic poses, but the specific shifts that make a headshot read as authentic on screen and on a casting director's desk.
I keep pricing simple because actors shouldn't have to do math before a session. One session fee, one retouched image included, and $95 for each additional. No packages, no bundles, no pressure. You see every shot in real time and choose your favorites when you're ready.
Hair & Makeup
For actors, I generally recommend looking like yourself — the version of you that walks into the audition room. If you'd like professional hair and makeup, reach out before booking so I can coordinate scheduling.
Actor Headshot Session
What's Included
Your session includes one fully retouched image — but the real value is the coaching. I direct you through expression, energy and subtle adjustments until we capture something that reads as genuinely you.
- A theatrical/legit look for dramatic submissions
- A commercial look for approachable, castable range
- Multiple outfit changes — bring as many looks as you want
- Real-time review on a tethered display so you see every frame
I don't do packages. You decide how many final images you need after you see the shots — not before. Most actors choose 2–4 to cover their submission categories.
Additional Images
Each additional retouched image is $95. Most actors choose 2–4 finals to cover commercial, theatrical, and legit submissions. You pick your favorites during the session.

Frequently Asked Questions
What do I get for $395?
A 30–45 minute coached session with professional lighting and one fully retouched high-resolution digital image. The session is built around direction — I coach you through expression, posture and energy for every frame. You'll review shots on a tethered display as we go. Most actors add 2–4 extra images at $95 each to cover different submission categories. Read more about what happens during a session.
How is this different from a corporate headshot session?
The coaching is fundamentally different. A corporate session aims for polished professionalism — approachable, trustworthy, clean. An actor session aims for presence, range and castability. I adjust my direction, lighting and energy to match. For the full breakdown, read what casting directors actually want. If you need a corporate headshot instead, see my individual session pricing or team pricing.
How many looks should I bring?
Bring 3–5 — typically a commercial look (approachable, warm), a theatrical/legit look (more intense, dramatic), and a few variations. We'll go through everything together before we start and plan the session. Outfit changes take about 2 minutes each. For wardrobe ideas, read what to wear for your headshot session.
I'm just starting out — is $395 worth it?
Your headshot is the single most important marketing tool you have as an actor. Casting directors make snap decisions based on thumbnails. A phone selfie or a cropped group photo signals you're not serious. A professional headshot with real coaching signals you are. This investment pays for itself with the first audition it gets you.
What about AI headshots?
AI headshots are especially problematic for actors. Casting directors need to see the real you — your actual bone structure, skin texture and expressions. An AI-generated image that smooths or subtly alters your features defeats the entire purpose. For a detailed comparison, read AI headshots vs real headshots.
How long until I get my photos?
Retouched images are delivered within 10 business days as high-resolution digital files. You'll get a private online gallery for downloading and sharing. If you have an audition deadline, let me know when you book — I can usually accommodate rush delivery.
What's your cancellation policy?
You can reschedule up to 48 hours in advance at no charge. Cancellations within 48 hours forfeit the session fee. Emergencies happen — just call and I'll work with you.
